Difficulties in Classroom:
May be there is a reason beyond the control of your child for his lack of performance in studies.
Your child could be having an invisible disability.
This invisible disability is called learning disability. It is a disability which is invisible, because a child looks and behaves normal, but is not able to read or write.
What exactly is learning disability then?
The term learning disabilities refers to a neurological disorder in one or more of the basic processes involved in understanding spoken or written language. This brain variance may influence an individual’s ability to speak, listen, read, write, spell, reason, organize information, or do mathematical calculations. If provided with the right support and intervention, a child with learning disabilities can succeed in school and have and have a successful, and often distinguished, career later in life.
Because their difficulties are not obvious, learning disabled persons are often misunderstood and maligned. They are accused of “not listening”, of “being lazy”, of “being clumsy”, or “being weird”. Not understanding their own problem, they often experience loss of self esteem and feelings of worthlessness.

These are only to name a few, who struggled through their formative years of school and yet succeeded.
Can the children be helped? Yes they can, and the most important aspect is the diagnosis of a problem
Once identified, intervention can be provided for the same. Turning point does assessments as well as provides intervention for Learning Disability.
Which are the different forms of learning disabilities which could be affecting your child?
It could be Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia or ADHD.
Dyslexia– The word dyslexia comes from the Greek language and means,”difficulty with words’.
Dyslexia is a language based learning disability, and the main area of difficulty is reading.
Students with Dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing and pronouncing words.
Dyscalculia
Dysgraphia- Difficult with handwriting and written expressions
Processing difficulty- Difficulty in answering indirect questions in a test
ADHD- inattentive, hyper, lost in the class or jumping from one activity to another.
